No Change, Past or Present

At Genki 2013 I was so lucky to get a few pictures snapped by the talented Saks Photography, he really is a cool guy and takes some crazy good pictures, both cosplay and modeling.
Every time I look at these pictures I find things I want to change on Ion, since I REALLY love this design, but I'm very very very critical about it and I have a hard time being completely satisfied with it - BUT I did try a lot of new things with this costume and I'm very happy about the turn out so far - And also having such a great great group as my cosplay partners, truly.

I did try and take pictures of the progress of this costume, so I will definitely make a post with those at some point, but until then - I hope your curiosity is mildly satisfied.

HOTD: Watch me hit the CRAY button

I wanted some solo shots of my Saya Takagi, since it's one of my favorite costumes to wear, so a few weeks back I asked one of my photographer friends if she had a few hours to spare, and luckily she did and I really like the shots that she got, so thank you very much Kelevar Photography

Looking at these shots makes me really pumped for shooting the CMV that Love Mustache Pro has planned and also a proper photoshoot with all my lovely zombie-hunters!

HTTYD: Uncanny Friendship

A good while back, myself and my fellow mustacheers went out to shoot a promo, but as of yet, it has not been edited. So instead I'd like to share some screencaps of the shots that I really liked.

PMMM: She will lose Herself

Thought it was time to finally show off some of my favorite shots from our PMMM shoot.
Despite of sudden horrible weather, our photographer, Haych Photography, got some amazing shots and did an even better job with editing.
I will leave out my Kyubey's personal shots, since she's the one to decide which she wants to share, so keep an eye out!

A Portrait Tip: Personality Angle

As a cosplayer, you're more than likely to have your picture taken, at cons you cannot control what the photographer does, but at a photoshoot, it's easy to know what to expect and you can help your photographer with guidance to how your character is supposed to be perceived.
*Do mind that everybody's face and body is different and my tips are not rules!

I got one example here, about how much a slight angle, can change your look.

In photo number one, the camera is pretty much right in front of my face, possibly a little higher up. This angle will make your head look bigger, and most of your facial features smaller, while your eyes gets bigger.
not just your face, but your torso also changes, since your neck appears to be shorter and your shoulder pulled up.
This angle is perfect for young characters and also the generic cute girl, and also if your character is more vulnerable, because the viewer has the dominant height.

In photo number two, the camera is obviously lower than my face, but not by much. This slight change makes an obvious impact, your head will appear smaller and proportionate to your body, therefore more adult and serious. Your neck looks longer and also taller.
This angle is good for adult characters, and if you're like me; a shorty, it will make you appear at least an inch or two taller. It is a more serious angle and not used often for cutesy pictures.

I hope this helps those of you who need it, it was very much a spur of the moment thing, but fun non-the-less

The unholy offspring of lightning and death itself.

Another cosplay I did at Genki, this was my 'secret' cosplay, just because I wasn't sure if it was actually going to get debuted. Toothless from How to Train your Dragon.
The cosplay was very much a spure of the moment idea, and it was just to get my mind off things, so I did it in 3 days or so, even though these shots doesn't show much of the detail I put into it, I hope to have a proper shoot with him soon. To show off the wings I did on the vest as well! And another wig, because this old one is so useless now!
And I got Mie Rose, to join me as Hiccup, since I had Noel's wig that she could borrow.

What should we do with our days?

Since it's been a wild wild weekend with photoshoots, I couldn't help myself and asked my wonderous Mustacheranger, to come out and shoot me as Rin Okumura. I haven't finished his jacket or tail, but that usually doesn't stop me, haha. I wanted to get a feel of the character, and I had a lot of fun with it, and know I'm going to have a good time in this cosplay.

A few of the pictures I've edited in a tail, just because it was missing so bad XD other than that.. I think these are the pictures I've edited the less on, ever.

Sings words without Promise.

So here's a bunch of somewhat proper pictures of me and Mie's SDotP cosplays.
We of course choose to have the pictures taken the day that the temperature dropped drasticly, and these cosplays are definitely not the warmest at all, so we were both uncomfortable, but had to get at least SOMETHING out of our agony, and this is it. /We'll have another shoot some other time.
And thank you MustacheRanger02 for enduring it as our photographer!

How do I feel about this cosplay? Overall, I'm surprised I was able to pull something like this off, there's some things I wanted differently, but that's basic design, that I really couldn't waver from.
As soon as the cosplay is on, it's not really the biggest bother to walk around in, as long as I got a grip on the wing /which I hate and don't want to talk about ever.
It's not a costume I'll revamp ever, I think. But I'd very much like to make the original Shaytan design some time.

Don't lose Luck

Today I went out with leZuum, so she could practice some more with her new camera, and I wanted some shots of Bernardo.
Eventhough I feel like my whole being, doesn't fit that of an actually manly (okay as manly as the japanese makes them) man, I still think it's funny to try and imitate one.

Process on Current Projects

Right now I'm working on several cosplays, all small/big things, that I might be very annoyed with, when I actually have to finish the costumes.
There's costumes I still want to get started on, and I'm going out to buy fabric this month, so I can get busy.

I started on Shaak Ti's headpiece about a month ago, and just building on it when I feel like being crafty.
I'm making a base of foam, paper and steelwire, to keep it both simple and lightweight, it's the same as I did for Kaito's horns, and they weigh next to nothing.

I've finished the base for Noel's sword/dagger, but the photo's I took screwed up the proportions of the sword, but it really isn't all that interesting right now anyway, I'm waiting for better quality photo's of it, but I'll hopefully start on his embroiding this month.

I've also recieved a Muramasa cosplay, yes, did not make this and I'm okay with that (making a pair of hakama's, forget it.)
I've started on the styling of the wig and also bought some of the stuff I'll need to make his katana.
I also need to figure out what shoes I want for him, but I got lots of time to figure that out.

In other news, I've had my nommelicious lense out for a test shoot, with Mustacheranger as my model, costuming Dark Mousy, which she does so well.

And that's all you're going to get from me, I still need to improve a lot.

Adeste Fideles

*Be present, faithful ones

Since I wasn't completely satisfied with the first shoot I had in my Kiris cosplay, I dragged mustacheranger out for a quick shoot.
Didn't get much out of this one either /I really need my Raenef, haha.
But I still got some solo shots, which I think are pretty neat, so just because I can, I'm sharing them here.

I've edited to look more cartoon-esque, just for the blog. Enjoy.

Kensington Gardens

I was in the mood for a shoot today, so me and mustachefriend just hurried a quick shoot.

Today I've been tumblrin' too much Peter Pan, so I couldn't help myself. Peter Pan is my favorite character of all time, the mysteries and the theories that haven't been made official. He's definitely a big inspiration in my life.
This is just a closetplay, but I will be making a real cosplay of him as soon as possible.

And OMG, it's so hard smiling for real on pictures! I need to work on my cockiness.

Love this blood-soaked world, without fear

I revamped my Ciel Phantomhive costume, since I wasn't satisfied with the look of it before, and today I had the chance for a photoshoot, thanks to the always amazing mustachefriend! /I was supposed to be Roxas, but I just didn't feel like it.

I kill.

(I'm.. so.. fucking.. tired.. of.. fucking... chrome.)

Another sunday shoot, done by my lovely mustacheappreciater.
This location is a school close to our house, very convenient, and it's large as heck, but we didn't get far, because of some people roaming around the area.
and oh gawd, ears does not appreciate the psycho wind, that's happening today.

Anycase, onwards to the pictures.
